JSON Tick Data to CSV: Convert Trades and Quotes
Tick data often arrives as JSON, one record per trade or quote. A CSV is easier to open, load and share.
Open the JSON to CSV converter
Open the JSON to CSV converter, drop the file or paste the data, and download the CSV. A list of records becomes the rows, and nested fields are flattened into columns named by their path. Turn on flatten if your records hold objects inside objects.
Timestamps need attention. Keep the time as it arrives, ideally ISO text or a unix number, rather than letting a spreadsheet reformat it, because a rounded time can break the order of trades. Prices and sizes should be numbers, and symbols should stay text. Open the first and last rows to confirm the order, and use the Data Profiler to look for blank fields and duplicate timestamps.
Size matters with ticks. A day of trades can run to millions of rows. CSV handles that, but Excel stops at 1,048,576 rows, so load the file in a database or script, or use large file mode in the app. If the files are heavy and you read them often, Parquet is smaller and faster.
Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert JSON to CSV?
Drop your JSON file (or paste the data), check the options, click Convert and download the CSV result.
How big can a file be?
It depends on your device. A few hundred MB usually works.
Which conversions does the Format Converter support?
Any direction between JSON, CSV, Parquet and Excel (.xlsx), for one file or a whole folder. Nested JSON is flattened into columns such as address.city. For Excel, the first sheet is read; old .xls files are not supported.
Why did my number or date change after converting?
Types are detected from the values. Turn off "Detect types" to keep everything as text, which also keeps leading zeros in IDs and phone numbers.
Tip: Do not open a tick CSV in Excel and save it again. It can change timestamps and cut rows.
