Password-Protected Data Reports: Share a Locked HTML File
Share a data quality report without worrying who opens it. Add a password and the report is locked.
A data profile shows column names, missing values and statistics. That is often private. If you email the report, anyone who gets the file can read it.
The Data Profiler can lock the report with a password. The report is encrypted with AES-256 inside the file, so it cannot be read without the password. When your colleague opens it, they see a password box. After they type the right password, the full report appears.
The report never includes values from your data, only statistics. The password is not stored or sent anywhere. Use the eye button to check what you typed before you download.
How to use the Data Profiler: step by step
- Open the Data Profiler and load your file.
- In the Overview step, type a password in the lock box. Click the eye to show or hide it.
- Click Download HTML report.
- Send the file, and send the password by a different route, such as chat or phone.
When to use the Data Profiler
- Sending a data quality report to a client
- Sharing results with another team by email
- Keeping audit reports private
- Attaching a profile to a ticket safely
Tip: There is no password recovery. If you lose the password, create the report again.
